Johnny Deep vs Amber Heard Trial-What Happened?
I became interested in the Johnny Deep Vs Amber Heard trial around the 4th week when I saw some clips from the trial on TikTok. I started watching the trial and I went through videos of attorneys and body language experts on YouTube ( The DUI GUY+, Law & Lumber, Runkle of the Bailey, and The Behavioural Arts) to understand more about law and body language. I was neither a Johnny Deep fan nor an Amber Heard fan watching this trial. I am all about believing women even when there is little evidence. But, watching the trial, I couldn’t believe amber heard at all.
I tried being unbiased when looking at her testimony. In the beginning, when Johnny was still giving his evidence, I thought maybe there was more to come from Amber’s side because it wasn’t her turn yet. Looking at the allegations she put against Johnny, I thought she was a victim. But, the day she took the stand, the way she was talking and trying to make faces and then suddenly going from nearly crying to having no emotions at all when there is an objection, just made me question her credibility. Also whenever a question is asked, she was always looking at the jury. She seemed like an actor trying their best to act and make it seem like it was real. She was miserably failing on this. She contradicted her own testimony at times. Initially, she claimed she didn’t write the Washington Post Op-Ed and was not about Johnny Deep but later during the amazing cross-examination by Camille Vasquez she said “That’s why I wrote the op-ed”. More to this the same photograph was submitted twice into evidence indicating they represented different incidents. She claimed Johnny deep repeatedly hit and punched her and said that Johnny deep almost always wears rings on all his fingers but she was never seen with bruises or marks and never needed any medical attention. Victims often don’t seek medical attention to not draw attention but she had doctors and nurses at her disposal. She claimed she used makeup to cover bruises. I am no expert but from what I know makeup doesn’t hide swelling. The people testifying on Amber Heard’s side were mostly her friends. Nobody saw Johnny deep being physically abusive except for her sister on one occasion, during the staircase incident. Even, the testimony her sister gave about the incident didn’t match her story.
Johnny on the other hand was very credible on the stand. He looked down most of the time when speaking of the incidents. He did look like a real victim leaving through the trauma as he was giving testimony. He accepted his problem with drugs and alcohol but denied any abuse toward Amber. The way he talked never trying to convince the jury but only answering the questions felt very genuine. Later in the trial, there were people coming forward and testifying which added up to his story but contradicted Heard’s testimony. Those people seem genuine, they didn’t have anything to gain by testifying but they did because it was about truth.
Overall, I think Amber Heard lost because of herself. On the recordings, you could clearly listen to Johnny trying to run away after the fight and her not letting him do so. Johnny had some texts that were very bad, but it was never sent to her. She on the other hand taunted him on those recording and it seemed like she was the abuser and he was the victim. Even if she was abused, she came out as a liar, because she essentially said anyone who contradicted her story was making it up. I think that is what Jury saw during this 6 week period. From whatever I have seen till the verdict, I can say it has been a fair trial. If Amber Heard had owned some of her mistakes instead of spinning and blaming, the verdict might have been different.
